Zambia Trade Policy Development

Client: United States Agency for International Development

CARANA developed Zambia's position presented at the World Trade Organization's (WTO) forum for least-developed countries. CARANA experts worked with the Zambian ministries responsible for trade policy to develop arguments in favor of greater technical assistance from the WTO for trade policy reform, customs improvements, and non-tariff barrier removal. CARANA also advised Zambia on its trade strategy within regional trade pacts, notably the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), to address the slow progress in trade liberalization by Zambia's major trading partners.
