Bolivia, Assistance to Agribusiness Worker/Producer Associations

Client: United States Agency for International Development

1992-1996, PL480 Funding

CARANA worked with the Government of Bolivia to administer technical guidance to selected rural producer associations in an effort to increase rural incomes. We provided targeted technical assistance, training, and marketing services to selected cooperatives and other rural associations in order to increase production, improve quality, and broaden access to markets and more favorable prices. We provided assistance in a number of product areas and offered training in the correct use of pesticides and fertilizers, better packaging, and the importance of adequate quality control. The project focused on developing linkages between producer associations and large private firms, many of them exporters, to provide rural groups with access to new marketing channels in domestic and export markets.
