Guyana Agricultural Diversification Program

Client: UK Department for International Development

2013-2015

The Guyana Agricultural Diversification Program (GADP), funded by the United Kiingdom Department for International Developmetn (DFID), was initiated in February 2013 with the overall goal of increasing economic growth, rural incomes and reducing poverty by supporting agricultural diversification in Guyana. The program was designed to continue the USAID-funded Guyana Trade and Investment Support Project (GTIS) in order to increase the export of non-traditional agriculture from Guyana to markets in the Caribbean, Europe and the USA while facilitating commercial sustainability. Production was scaled up to meet the volume and traceability requirements of export buyers through the use of technology, GlobalGAP certfication, and the delivery of export services.

Program activities continued under the CARANA Agriculture Development Partnership (CADP), a Guyanese commercial farm management and services company established before the conclusion of the project.
