Sub-Saharan Africa
West Africa Agribusiness and Trade Promotion (ATP) and Extended ATP Projects
Client: United States Agency for International Development
2008-2012
ATP increased the value and volume of intra-regional agricultural trade in key staple food products within West Africa (i.e., maize, livestock, onion/shallots, poultry, millet, and rice). Extended ATP focused on facilitating flows of staple foods from surplus to deficit zones to improve regional food security. As a sub to Abt Associates, CARANA worked with national governments and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to reduce tariff and other policy barriers to trade as well as to reduce transport and logistics costs within the target value chains.
