West African fashionistas learn what it takes to sell globally

BBC: Trade Hub training for fashion designers

How can African fashion designers break into international markets? USAID’s West Africa Trade Hub—managed by CARANA—brought together 40 designers and producers from seven countries around the region to explore answers to that question. The Hub's Kafui Djonou models one creation during a post-workshop fashion showThe Hub's Kafui Djonou models one creation during a post-workshop fashion show

The Hub’s Hanna Amichia and CARANA’s Lori Brock joined with other apparel consultants for a three-day workshop, November 30-December 2, on numerous issues affecting the industry: transportation, ethics, information and communication technology and efficiency and productivity. The goal, as the BBC reported in a December 6 radio report, is for African-made apparel to be sold in a store near you.
