Last month, Ecuador’s Secretary of Production Coordination Nathalie Cely signed an agreement with FiberHome Technologies Group, the Asian optical fiber cable company that will establish new operations in Ecuador’s Manabí Province. FiberHome Technologies Group is the third largest optical fiber company in China and one of the largest in the world. The company will be investing an estimated $20 million to establish a factory to produce optical fiber and other products related to this technology.

The agreement was made possible thanks to the investment attraction efforts of Invest Manabí, a regional investment promotion agency created with support from CARANA Corporation through the USAID-funded Productive Network project. Productive Network provided expert technical guidance to Invest Manabi and financed a marketing trip to China for investment promotion officers to identify possible investors.
