CARANA takes part in the 2013 Making Cents Global Youth Economic Opportunities Conference

As a sponsor of the 2013 Making Cents Global Youth Economic Opportunities Conference, CARANA participated in three “Youth Economic Opportunities” sessions, which included (1) a “deep dive” on workforce development for rural youth; (2) a presentation entitled, “Using Social Media to Engage Youth and Scale Workforce Development Programs;” and (3) a panel discussion on how youth workforce development programs can learn from recent research on adolescent brain development. As a part of the presentation on social media and workforce development, CARANA showed a video (see video below) highlighting its significant success in using social media to effectively engage youth under the USAID/El Salvador Improving Access to Employment project.

Other innovative topics and important themes for youth workforce development featured at the conference included the need for evidence-based solutions, the power of social media and technology, entrepreneurship and peer-to-peer mentoring, and the increased use of crowd-funding to support youth ventures.
